ABOUT PPRI

The Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI) is known for its strong record of interdisciplinary research excellence and its translation of empirical findings to policy and general audiences. It has made a profound impact on policy and practice and has developed proven methods for effective multi-stakeholder engagement at the local, state, national and global levels.

Collaborative energy that measures up

Among the Institutes and Centers of Purdue’s Discovery Park District, PPRI has led multi-disciplinary seed grant programs at Purdue to address global grand challenges. It also has been a part of federally and privately funded multidisciplinary projects, and has co-designed and co-facilitated training programs worldwide to build the capacity needed to sustain initiatives beyond our involvement.

Our Mission

The Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI) brings together researchers and policy specialists to stimulate data-driven policymaking and assessment. Through strategic focus areas such as defense, security and space as well as health, well-being, the future of work and sustainability, development and peacebuilding, PPRI is a go-to resource for developing and evaluating policies that address the world’s largest and most pressing challenges.

Support the Institute

Thanks to the support of our generous donors, staff, students, and partners, PPRI continues to thrive. Please consider giving to any of the funds below.

The Arden L. Bement Jr. fellowship supports a permanent policy fellow position at PPRI. Arden Bement, inaugural director of the Global Policy Research Institute that preceded PPRI, served in prominent roles in industry, government and academia. He was U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for research and engineering; TRW Inc.’s vice president of both technical resources and science and technology; director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology; and director of the National Science Foundation.

The Purdue Peace Project is a university-based political violence prevention initiative that builds peace in areas at risk of political violence and conducts research to learn about political violence prevention at the community level.

PPRI’s scholar interns program draws on Purdue’s immense pool of talented undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in research and policy. PPRI’s interns work on a vast array of projects including research and design, writing researched blog posts and policy briefs, and assisting the PPRI leadership team with various projects.

With a generous donation from Donald Heirman, a Purdue alumnus who co-founded the Global Policy Research Institute, the Founders Endowment supports areas of strategic importance.
